Biographies of Our Speakers:
Northgate Capital - Thorsten Claus:
Mr. Claus serves as a Partner in Northgate’s San Francisco, USA office. He has experience in both venture capital investing and executive operational roles. Prior to Northgate, he was Principal at Next World Capital (NWC), an expansion-stage venture capital firm in San Francisco, focusing on investments in the areas of Big Data, Cybersecurity, and Enterprise Software. Before NWC, he was a Senior Investment Manager with T-Venture, the venture capital arm of Deutsche Telekom with over 1BN USD AUM, in the Silicon Valley. He worked closely with management teams, boards, and investors of T-Venture’s large US portfolio to enter and grow European and international business through investments in the areas of Mobile, IT and Network Infrastructure, and Enterprise Software. Before T-Venture, Mr. Claus led large-scale IT infrastructure and digital transformation projects for international fixed, mobile, and cloud communication service providers. He sourced and managed innovative partnerships with venture-backed startups, vendors, and suppliers across North America and Europe. In 2005, he was awarded the Deutsche Telekom International Award for Excellence in Innovation.
Industry Ventures - Amir Malayery:
Amir concentrates on originating, executing, and managing secondary investments in later-stage, venture-backed companies and venture capital funds. While at Industry Ventures, he has led secondary investments in both consumer and enterprise companies, as well as limited partnership positions in venture funds across various stages and geographies. Amir also started and co-manages the firm’s volunteering efforts through its non-profit initiative . Prior to Industry Ventures, Amir was founder and CEO of Dapper Shopping, a mobile commerce startup focused on men’s retail. Previously, Amir was an investor at Summit Partners, a growth equity firm where he focused on internet, media and technology investments. Amir received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA and MA from Stanford, where he played offensive line on the football team.
Kingfisher Investment - Yariv Robinson:
For the past decade, Mr. Robinson has worked with mid and late-stage private technology companies, as an advisor, banker, and investor. Yariv is the co-founder of Kingfisher Investment Advisors, a Silicon Valley-based venture growth firm focused on mid/late stage technology companies, with a bias towards enterprise software and corporate IT infrastructure. Kingfisher has the flexibility to make either primary or secondary investments, which allows the firm to provide companies with growth equity, and to help solve near-term liquidity needs of individual shareholders. To date, Yariv has been involved with, or led, well over 150 private technology transactions collectively valued well in excess of $750 million. Earlier in his career, Yariv was with A.T. Kearney and J.D. Power where he led consulting teams serving Fortune 500 and Global 1000 clients. Mr. Robinson is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles, where he received an MBA, and was an MDE scholar with the Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. Prior to that, Yariv earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Economics and Political Science from the University of Tel-Aviv, and also holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses. Mr. Robinson resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and four children.
